PAS Selangor belum tentu terima Anwar sebagai MB The Malaysian Insider

– 28 Januari, 2014.

Selangor PAS to step in if Anwar makes a move for MB

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 — Selangor PAS vowed to stay clear of the Kajang by-election today, but pledged to step in should Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim make a move for the state mentri besar post.
Should the post be vacated, Selangor PAS will nominate state party commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad for the job, since the Islamist party holds more seats in the state assembly than Anwar’s PKR does.
“PAS Selangor will not intervene. As long as it has nothing to do with the Selangor mentri besar (job) PAS will stay as an observer,” Selangor PAS secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said in a statement here.
If the mentri besar post becomes vacant, Selangor PAS will step in, he said.
“This includes naming Selangor PAS commissioner as our main candidate.”
Iskandar, the state assemblyman for Cempaka, could not be reached for further comment.
The Pakatan Rakyat coalition holds 44 of the 56 seats in the Selangor state assembly, PAS and DAP both have 15 seats each, while PKR has 13 after Kajang assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh’s sudden resignation yesterday.
In a separate statement, Selangor PAS Youth expressed disappointment over Lee’s resignation, calling it a betrayal against public trust since Lee had won by a 6,824-vote majority last year.
Its chief Syarhan Humaizi Abdul Halim claimed that internal squabbles within PKR should have been settled without wasting public funds in a by-election.
“The resignation seems to only give way for Anwar to contest, as announced by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.”
Opposition Leader Anwar announced today that he will contest the upcoming Kajang by-election, confirming previous widespread speculation. He did not say if he planned to replace Khalid as Selangor Mentri Besar.

MB Terengganu ‘kantoi’ guna istana untuk lawatan ke Antartika The Malaysian Insider

Usaha Menteri Besar Terengganu, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said (gambar) menggunakan nama istana bagi lawatan ke Antartika terbocor apabila Yayasan Diraja Sultan Mizan (YDSM) menafikan penglibatan mereka dalam ekspedisi berkenaan.
Ahmad Said dituntut segera membuat permohonan maaf kepada Tuanku Sultan Mizan atas tindakan berkenaan.
"Ketika kita ajak rakyat berjimat, menteri besar pula dilihat mahu menghabiskan duit tanpa faedah.
- 28 Januari, 2014.

Terengganu MB must apologise for his ‘Antartica lie’, says PAS lawmaker

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has been told to apologise to the state royalty for falsely claiming that his upcoming Antartica trip is sponsored by the Yayasan Diraja Sultan Mizan (YDSM).
Batu Burok assemblyman Syed Azman Ahmad Nawawi (pic) said the MB should apologise immediately to the YDSM and also to the Terengganu's Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin for using his name.
"We demand that he (Ahmad) apologise to YDSM and reveal who is actually the organiser or his trip and how much it is costing us," Dr Syed Azman said.
Yesterday, YDSM shot down Ahmad's claims and denied that it had organised the trip.
"The trip was not organised by us and has nothing to do with the foundation's programmes," said its working secretary, Mohd Azrul Ismail, in a statement.
On January 16, the MB's office announced the Antartica trip claiming that it was organised by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry through the initiative of YDSM.
It said the working visit was aimed at paving the way to assisting the government to set up a research station there for joint research with the Instituto Antarctico Chileno.
"The visit is initiated to enable Malaysia to contribute to research on climate change which has become increasingly unpredictable.
"This scientific exploration visit is a follow-up to the visit by the Sultan of Terengganu to Antarctica in October 2011, in wanting to see more local universities involved in research in the ice-covered region," the MB’s office said in a statement.
Opposition leaders were outraged at the MB's trip, calling it "blatant extravagance" after the rising cost of living had caused the people to tighten their belts.
"Why should we be spending any taxpayers’ money at all to 'research' an area in which we have no competitive advantage?" DAP's Tony Pua had asked.
Azman had previously called on the MB to cancel his trip and focus on helping the poor in the state.
Terengganu deputy PAS commissioner Yahaya Ali said the issue of who is the organiser is not important but the the trip should be cancelled as it did not bring any benefit.
"At a time when we are asking the people to tighten their belts, the MB is seen as wanting to spend money without any good.
"What will the people of Terengganu get from his trip to the Antartica? It's not like we have snow here. What we have are floods," he told The Malaysian Insider.
Azman said not only was the Antartica trip shocking but the YDSM's denial of being involved was even more surprising.
"It was a blatant lie to the people," he told The Malaysian Insider.
He said he was confident that the people of Terengganu will not sit back and let the MB's lie just slide.
"I am sure the people, without looking at political affiliations, will not let this go just like that," Azman, who is also in the PAS central committee said.
Ahmad Said's position had not been stable since he was elected as Menteri Besar after the 2008 general election.
This was because the Umno leadership had initially chosen Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh to take the position but the suggestion was shot down by the palace.
Said was finally installed as the MB after several negotiations with the palace.
When Tuanku Sultan Mizan was appointed as King, a Dewan Pangkuan DiRaja Terengganu (DPDRT) was formed to replace him in the state as his son was too young to be acting Sultan.
Following that, Said was accountable not only to one ruler but nine members of the DPDRT in the state administration.
This had created the perception that many projects, timber and mining areas "escaped" from the people's hands to certain parties.
After the 2013 general election, Ahmad Said's position became even weaker as the state opposition only had two less seats than the ruling Barisan Nasional.
Pakatan Rakyat obtained 15 seats while BN got 17 seats. – January 28, 2014.

Anwar mahu jadi MB Selangor kerana gagal jadi PM, kata Kadir Jasin The Malaysian Insider

– 28 Januari, 2014.

Pergolakan dalam keluarga Tun Razak The Malaysian Insider

Artikel bertarikh 14 Januari itu disiarkan The Malaysian Insider, The Star dan Sinar Harian.
Walau apa pun terjadi. – 28 Januari, 2014.

All is not well with the Razak clan

An opinion piece titled Remembering Tun Razak by prominent banker Datuk Seri Nazir Razak (pic) appears to have struck a raw nerve with the First Family and their supporters – with possible dire consequences for the CIMB boss.
The consensus in the Datuk Seri Najib Razak camp is the article, which sketched the legacy of Malaysia's second prime minister, was ill-advised and served only to provide ammunition for the Prime Minister's opponents at a time when arrows are being fired at him and his wife from all sides.
In the article to coincide with the 38th anniversary of Tun Abdul Razak Hussein's death, Nazir outlined the qualities that made his father a much respected figure. As the custodian of the nation's coffers, his frugality was legendary.
On the rare occasions when his family travelled with him, Razak made sure that he paid for the expenses himself. He was also famous for his integrity and understood that he was a servant of the people whose trust must never be betrayed.
Nazir pointed out that his father was "People First", long before the sound bite, and believed that there was a place under the Malaysian sun for every one of its citizens.
It is understood that the piece was put out to remind Malaysians of the Razak legacy and also to protect the family name.
It found favour with many in the chattering class who have grown despondent over Najib's lacklustre performance as a prime minister and the downward drift of the country into a deep and dark abyss of religious and racial extremism.
Many considered the article timely given the roiling debate of lavish spending by the government and the seemingly cavalier attitude by ruling politicians towards hardship faced by Malaysians due to rising cost of living.
But in Putrajaya, the opinion piece was received poorly and it is no stretch of imagination to say that Nazir is persona non grata in the corridors of power.
Punitive action being bandied about range from making it clear that he does not enjoy the favour of the government to forcing him to consider his employment options.
Much of the talk could be just hyperbole, fuelled by a sense of betrayal. But what is clear is that ties between the First Family and their supporters and the banker have never been so strained.
Well-placed sources told The Malaysian Insider that there were many objections over the article and this included the lecturing tone, its timing and the motive behind it.
It was as if only Nazir was concerned about the Razak legacy, complained Team Najib. In addition, they felt that there must be a sense of loyalty to family, especially during difficult times.
And that sending a message to the PM through an opinion piece was out of order, particularly as it appeared in media not controlled by Umno.
The article dated January 14 was carried by The Malaysian Insider, The Star and Sinar Harian.
It is learnt that Najib and his younger brother have exchanged words about the opinion piece, with another piece, seen as more conciliatory, on the same issue coming out in the Umno-owned New Straits Times two days later.
Despite sniping by pro-government bloggers over the piece, Nazir is unmoved, believing that he owes a duty to his family to remind Malaysians of his father's legacy and protect it at all cost.
At all cost. – January 28, 2014.

$$$ is not everything

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The son of billionaire investor Warren Buffett has an old-world spiritual message for today's money-rich parents: teach your children values and do not give them everything they want.

Musician and now author Peter Buffett preaches the message in his new book "Life is What You Make it: Finding Your Own Path to Fulfillment". Recently released in the United States, it describes how he wound up a "normal, happy" person instead of a spoiled child to one of the world's richest people.

Buffett, 52, teaches the rewards of self-respect and pursuing one's own passions and accomplishments rather than buying into society's concepts of material wealth.

"I am my own person and I know what I have accomplished in my life," he said. "This isn't about wealth or fame or money or any of that stuff, it is actually about values and what you enjoy and finding something you love doing."

People who are born with a silver spoon in their mouth can fall victim to what Buffett said his father has called a "silver dagger in your back," which leads to a sense of entitlement and a lack of personal achievement.

"Entitlement is the worst thing ever and I see entitlement coming in many guises," he said. "Anybody who acts like they deserve something 'just because,', is a disaster."

But Buffett wasn't always this wise. His own family gave him $90,000 in stock when he was 19, a small sum from such immense financial wealth. After studying at Stanford University, he moved to San Francisco and lived in a studio apartment with just enough room for his musical instruments.

"I was really searching," he said, adding that he began his musical career by working for free writing music for a local television station.

"I was kind of lost, but trying to find myself. It was definitely this strange period where I didn't really know where I was going," he said.

LOOKING AT THE BIG PICTURE

As well his musical passions, the values taught to him growing up and a sense of a bigger picture in life stayed with him during those trying times, he said.

"I was not only not handed everything as a kid, I was shown that there are lots of other people out there with very different circumstances," he said.

Although many people he encounters assume that his father wanted him to go into finance, he said his father accepted his choice to become a musician beginning with commercials then his own albums and composing for television shows and films.

"It was encouraged for a moment when I was open to the idea," he said about pursuing finance. But he added that as he grew older, it became clear the financial world "was not speaking to my heart."

Along with the book, Buffett has embarked on a "Concert & Conversation" tour in which he plays the piano, talks about his life and warns against consumerist culture and damaging the environment.

He said he eventually inherited more money after his mother died in 2004, but by then he had learned his lessons. Now he works on giving back to the world -- another of his life philosophies -- which includes through working for his father's NoVo charitable foundation.

"Economic prosperity may come and go; that's just how it is," he writes in the book. "But values are the steady currency that earn us the all-important rewards."

And Lastly #9: Believe That It Is Easy To Make Money

We have some time or the other heard that we
could achieve what we truly believe in. Having
faith in something will help you achieve it.

Many people will discard this theory, while some
may have tried doing it but may not have actually
done so and still others who have tried it and
have tasted success through it.

However, gaining success is not very easy, as you
have to follow the steps in this believing
process and use it in your favor.

Trust It

Answer a few of the questions:

-Do you believe with all faith that there are
various ways to reach your goal and you just need
to find them? -Do you have total faith in
yourself and your ability to achieve whatever you
desire financially and personally? -Do you
completely believe that you will be shown the
right direction at right time and no matter where
you are now, you will reach your destination?

If your answer for many of the above questions is
in negative then it will not lead you to where
you wish to go.

You need to completely believe that everything
will work in your favour. The belief that you can
find an answer for every question that arises
while knowing and believing that you can and you
will.

How to gain such a high level of self-confidence

Start with small steps. Start by targeting small
problems in your daily life like, if you are not
able to find the keys, keep telling yourself that
you will find them.

When you really find them, you will start
believing in this process. While doing a project
with a strict deadline keep assuring yourself
that you will finish your project within the
deadline and when you have finished the project
you have developed confidence in yourself. By
bringing this change in yourself, you will learn
to be confident about yourself.

Stop worrying, because worrying is like not
trusting yourself. Sentences like, “I worry
because I may not be able finish the exams”, show
your lack of confidence. By worrying, you cannot
change the situation.

As you start believing yourself in making small
decisions, it will become a habit with you.
Therefore, when you face bigger problems in life,
you know what to do. You have stopped worrying
and are facing challenges with lots of
self-confidence. You know what to do and have the
ability to achieve what you wish for.

Steps for making self-belief a practice might
look easy but you will take some time to achieve
this habit. Financial success depends highly on
self-belief. Without this, nothing will make
sense.

Everybody wants to be rich. Some of them have
already achieved this and some are trying to
achieve. Many paths will lead you to financial
success and the meaning for wealth is different
for each of us. No matter how you define wealth,
your notion of wealth will help you achieve
financial success.

Having correct attitude towards money helps you
accomplish financial success. It has its own
presence, identity and power.

Understanding how changing your notion about
money in your situation is very important.

#8: Goodwill and Benevolence

Benevolence is very important, whether through
your physical work or by emotions. It is not only
beneficial to the person at the receiving end but
also to yourself. Selflessness can be shown
through various ways.

The Good

When you concentrate on others instead of
yourself, positive energies build up and
situations are created for success. They unravel
themselves in form of unexpected and abundant
positive responses. This may include a change of
behavior from being a miser and mean to
selflessness. Good luck with inflow of abundant
money may come your way with such kind gestures.

A miserly man decided to pay for the education of
his friend’s son, whose financial background was
not so strong. This gesture is out of his
character. Next day all of a sudden he receives
payment for the invoice, which has been pending
for a long time.

(In the above circumstance, the miser understood
the link between forgetting his stringiness and
the positive response he got from life. He also
noted that the amount, which he generously gave,
was almost equal to the amount he received from
the unexpected payments)

Benevolence and generosity

You can bring good luck in your life by being
kind and generous towards others. When an
individual sends appreciation and goodwill to his
friends and different customers he was showered
with good news in the form of money, sales and
other good luck.

Have goodwill at work.

To attract money you need to have goodwill
towards the other people around you as well as
circumstance and situation around you. Goodwill
in your work will attract lots of money into your
life. Out flow of surplus goodwill will create
inflow of surplus money. For example if a
salesman puts his 100% effort in his work, it is
possible that he will experience good luck in the
form of more demand, more work and more
opportunities etc.

This example shows you that the use of goodwill
can be directly related to money and success.

Why do goodwill and benevolence attract money?

Think of money as a force and not a thing. The
force believes in encouraging mutual advantages
and relationship between individuals. Money is
the power for human interchange and
communication.

Money can be compared to language. Language
enables humans to interact with other humans.
Think of a person who decides to remain silent
and wants to keep all the words to himself.

Will this decision help him? Definitely no!
Language itself is for communication. Language
grows and is beneficial only if we use it for
communication. The more you use it the more you
understand it and are able to relate to it.
Language enables a single person to communicate
with the whole society. We do not store language.
Therefore we can conclude that the more people
that use our language, the easier it is to relate
with others. This can be applied to money.

Money is similar to language. When we relate
through money with others, money grows. When we
help others to prosper and try to encourage
success in individuals around us, we will attract
money. Goodwill and benevolence will attract more
money into our life. The more you give, the more
you receive.

In the next lesson we will take a look at how
having faith in something will help you achieve
it.
